I think people should differentiate between the words Zionist and Jew. Israel is a state of Zionists at war with the people who were natives to that land before the State of Israel was established there by Imperial powers. They have been at war with the Palestinians and arabs for many years.. So the dialogue in that conflict, if you take the Palestinian or arab side at all, is anti-Zionist. But the term anti-Jewish is used synonymously with anti-Zionist, and thats what clouds the issue. The Nazi's tried to exterminate the Jews, which was criminal genocide. The Zionists are practicing criminal apartheid in Palestine, but that is seperate from their Jewishness.

Getafix is right. I have plenty of Jewish family and as the youngest son in a Jewish house I used to even have a role saying certain prayers for certain holidays. I certainly don't have anything against Judaism.

However, I have never been happy with the way Israel was established as a State - essentially a religious state, even a "democratic theocracy" perhaps. Many people were harmed in the process of doing so and the general argument is that it was "justified" by some past. Ignoring the real harm that was caused to some people by the establishment of Israel is a huge component of our Middle-East problems today and the formation of so many hate groups (now called terrorists as well).

I believe establishing any "state" on the BASIS of a religion is a bad idea. But then, I am pretty openly "anti-religion" in general, as opposed to against any one religion.

I thought this went well. Tan creates this thread under the guise of patriotism and Arab tradition about isreal fluff. I changed the topic to tans religion and his view on isreal. Then to his post history. Usmc and at least three others were scouring tans posts so they dont have to take my word for it.
I think we had a great conversation. Instead of the article being discussed, we discussed tan and his motives for posting it. Much like youre trying to do to everyone that isnt sucking pc ideals.
