Rigs seem nice since no tech is required. Non-fascists only get 2 barrels per rig, but at these prices that's solid. The fascists should build more rigs though which would suck for you if you just built your own. They could be making close to $1000 per building. Of course you can't go too crazy because you'll just crash the market and they're pretty useless late unless someone wants them to burn on their pm.

Also a reminder that % of land built as labs or ent zones matters for your tpt and pci.

The thing is, unless if you are a Fascist on top of the food chain, you are essentially supplying the means to your own demise! Definitely can't add any rigs to my set up now, but hoping to see more oil soon.

Yeah the food market sure also slows right down when there is no oil, as do the military markets I would guess

Maybe dictator wasn't the right choice for farmer and fascist farm/oil is the way to go next time I try a farmer

I think Farmer is less forgiving in the start if you dont tech start. as compared to indy or casher that is. because food prices are low early on the farmer struggles real bad in the beginning with getting enough NW not to be farmed while still purchasing enough tech to not be even poorer.

I hate doing tech starts because I dont like depending on 3 other people who I dont know if they will rip me off by teching 50 turns at once in an area I just have 1 turn of tech in. But I feel the tech start for a farmer is much less costly than it is for a casher or an indy, since the farmer will have such poor income without a tech start that it will be forced to compensate with a lower bpt start or take huge risks and probably get hit a bunch.
Indy doesnt have this problem at all, and casher can work around it more easily with its huge instant income.

It was a huge struggle to get enough networth to avoid becoming a land farm as a dictator farmer without a tech start and with 90 buildings per turn early, that's for sure

I build 1,500 rigs today for myself, I'll likely get to 2,500 or 3,000 and that should be enough for a while so I can sustain my own landgrabs without relying on the market too much

I also don't see how its possible to sell oil at 400 and not be shooting up the ranks. That means you make more than the techers per turn and acre but you dont even have to spend your turns a specific way, as you make that while building/attacking/exploring/spying/cashing/selling/recalling etc :)

I think if you are thinking more about avoiding to sell what can be used against you, rather than what makes you most money, you will be farmed by someone who doesn't think that way, because he will inevitably be doing better than you. :)

Already looking a head to the next set (or two), I am going to be out. I’m not sure where Serp has gone either, so there’s room for some new commies.

Keep an eye out for the $20 oil I’ve sent to market (and some for $100). It’s not much at $20, just a tease, but I may change strat shortly and dump a lot more oil at a better price as a parting gift.

I am thinking in the last 10 days of this set of starting a war with the country that made the dumbest comment on the discussion board - just to keep life interesting. :-)

LOL, missed the teaser oil if in fact even did get to the market, I'm not sure if there's an autobuy for non tech goods.....is there? I know there was talks about it like a decade ago when people got caught transferring goods to boost someone to the top, it happened in xpress if I recall correctly....

Here is a free tip for ya'll:

If you get hostile ops on you and you dont know who they are comming from, assuming you are in GDI, you can check who is sending them by seeing who broke GDI on you, remember 2 hostile acts break GDI(one way). So what you do is you try and GS people that have not hit you over the course of the round.

So you can try one number say #9, put in 1 troop, Guerilla strike, prepare attack. GDI will stop you right there if its not this person. if you can GS him it means he broke GDI on you. You dont actually have to GS him to know this. All you have to do is see if the prepare attack screen pops up or if it gives the GDI-error message. Happy hunting!

Ahhh fail a retal which hurts :( can't seem to understand why.. there's no change in the attacking formula right? Say defence points is A points.. then assume defence ally give the max boost (which means max contribution of A x 110%).. so formula is A x (weapon %) x 1.1 x (bonus) + ally boost.. and I oversend 7% of this amount

I always count the 10% pang and def bonus after everything else. Pang I know should be counted after. but the def bonus Im not sure, so Im conservative which means I cant fail because of it.

So (Raw_def*weaps+Raw_ally_contribution)*pang*bonus

No you wouldn't. Even if target had no def bonus you still oversent only 7% when your general states clearly that you should oversend by around 10%:
