But I thought we'd opt to destock whilst the price is still high? No?

A single country destock would crash the market? :P

A single country wouldn't crash the market, but 2-3 countries can, especially if they have a lot of stock.

Also note that today, avg jet price over last 24 hours increased by $15 dollars while it increased $8 on turrets. Military prices on the rise again.

Also note that

48-72 hours ago, 336m food sold.
24-48 hours ago, 332m food sold.
0-24 hours ago, 443m food sold.

some demo must be playing the market with that much food being sold, or am I wrong?

Well, 332m food at $59 is 19.5b (ignore tax). The big countries (> 50k) can easily produce 1b to 1.5b a day, even the medium ones can produce half of that.

The big countries (>50k land) eat 3m food a day, so just counting food consumption of the 20 or so such countries is 60m food already... The next 40 countries at half their land also eat that much (half the land but twice as many countries). So that accounts for another 60m food. I'll make a wild guess the remainder countries eat another 40m food. So half the food volume is just daily consumption.

The rest is probably just normal stocking at about 10m food a day per stocking techer, and a bit more for cashers.

So I think you're wrong Bobby :P

BobbyATA Game profile

I guess the question is how much are cashers actually stocking yet. Last I saw, with all the biz/res tech still being sold (6M+ of each in last 72 hours), the answer is not much.

But about today is when everyone is into stocking mode to some degree, and that makes sense with the increase in food being bought. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see food market empty out btw..

Nah that's from a range of SOs on all types of commodities, plus tech alliances, tech selling, etc., it's not any market manipulation.

Bushel market will start to trend downwards in in 3-4 days max. MIlitary is rising. Im confident techers will start to destock soon with tech prices this low to capitalize on high bushel prices and cheaper military.

AndrewMose Game profile

I doubt there is a techer with more than 200M bushels stocked. $12B +/- some won't take long to spend and will waste quite a bit of turns. Of course the other option is to get to 350M stock and sell for $36. :) The choices a techer has to deal with. At this point it is just the pride of being the top techer at the end.

I think there are 2 techers with over 200m bushels right now.

Thats why ive given up on teching - its just so painful playing a techer in a 2 month set and the market crashing knowing you dont have a chance no matter how well you play

A little birdie told me military is going to skyrocket tomorrow. Better dump your stock for cheep while you can and buy all the turrets before they reach $200!!!!!

Would you make more cash as a Demo with no market commissions by buying and then selling bushels each day at a higher prices, using each days sale to buy more for the next day. Or stocking all bushels up and selling them at some price you think is as high as it will, go or when you need to destock?

is better then
Buying at 40, selling at 65. (as a demo)

You can't always sell at 46, buy at 45, especially since prices are steadily rising. You may end up selling at 46 and buying at 47. Also, if you have cash on hand from selling tech or just in general, you can already put out SOs for the cheap food. I don't see a reason to attempt something like Bobby's example in Primary. To make a noteworthy profit you'd have to shuffle 10s of millions of bushels and there definitely haven't been 10s of millions of bushels selling under $60, for example, because I've had SOs out and haven't got them.

"If there is X turns left in the reset, then you want A = B to match

A = (Stock + future stock gained over M turns)
B = (Amount of money it takes to buy out your PM over N turns of regen)

where M+N = X."

OMA/bstrong86: Switching to Theo only works if you have a huge BPT to convert using less than maybe 2-3 days of turns, and if you aren't too large in NW.

If you are say 20m NW, converting governments alone will cost you maybe 25% of your BPT. If you're 30m NW, converting governments is pretty much kills a little more than 1/3 of your CSes (BPT).

The conversion costs for a country larger than 30k land also makes it not worthwhile 90% of the time.

It generally doesn't outweigh the benefits of -expenses, and spending turns with positive income until the very last turn of the set.

Once you're a TMBR, you spend 0 turns for the rest of the set and make no income for your entire destock period.

once you're a tmbr -expenses doesn't help all the much either... I've never looked at building versus expenses for different strategies, just assumed someone else had since we all just do expenses heh.
