Foog: It wasn't meant as a personal attack on Imag, it just happens that Imag is one of those clans. My view is also not set in stone, just contributing to a discussion, you raised quite a few good points that I enjoyed reading.

I wrote some drunken stuff about this once, essentially this game will never be stable over any long period of time unless:

1. All clans engage in the goal of 'winning'

Be this by dominating the networth charts, or actually trying to win wars. Clans that exist just to screw around without actually trying to win are the real problem here. If the war clans are actually concerned with coming out victorious, then the netters can actually fight, both in war and politically. If the warclan just acts for the sake of "were bored", the netters have no recourse to do jack and eventually the netters will get sick of it and leave.

2. New players come in at a rate that outpaces or keeps even with those that leave.

This one is all about the land and the untagged players. Everyone can pretty much figure out what happens when land becomes really scarce, so i don't need to explain that one.

I hereby demand Platinum status be implemented!

Old platinum level with a real patron board would be cool, 5$ per 3 months, I paid for that for a while. It's nothing big, just the thought that you are helping out with hosting to keep things going.

Though to set a price for a resource within the game and have no limits to it? Ixnay on that one, I'd end up not playing anymore. It's a good model for a game that exists to make money, no doubt. It's also a good way to shut out anyone from competing if doing so requires monetary investment. That's too much like real life, we're all here to escape that hell hole.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least to know that every single clan in the game had or still does have one. Most of the time it is not for coordination, but merely a courtesy thing (for not hitting friends, looking for ingame allies: def/intel, etc.) or just a way to show off or get feedback from other players on how to improve, kind of like what people do on the strategy forum.

Some people do use these mediums to coordinate, some people recognize that even though it may be hard to enforce, it is against the spirit of the rules and that everyone should refrain from doing so and try to work towards individual desires when making decisions about their countries.

The new admins know of this stuff and have to make some hard choices when it comes to figuring out who is bending these rules and who isn't and it causes some frustration when longtime players get deleted for it.

The reality is that this crap is not going to change because of some troll. It will take the majority of the players left here to make that conscious decision to refrain from things like it. There isn't an easy yes/no button for this, it takes judgement.

My speculations and only speculations: (i'm no top10 player)

Farmer's only benefit is a better growth income to gain tech advantage. Destocking doesn't make a difference as everyone benefits from the rise in the floor price. I don't really see how this will allow farmer to "dominate", better yes, maybe closer to being on par with the others. Maybe that was the intention of the rise in the floor price?

Bushel peak should be higher 32-55ish will become like 39-65ish. Not much difference just a shift in the numbers 32 destock on 32-55 should be pretty much the same as a 39-65ish. Think about it.

I also think this really helps indies more. So easy for the market to get saturated and commies end up practically unplayable. With military tech though, they can keep up sales and at least play turns, a big benefit to the indies more than anything.

The whole reselling thing could be neat, a dedicated strat for someone with lots of time on their hands to make a killing.

I think if enough people shift over to farmer, techers might take a slight hit as you've explained Bobby.

The bigger change I see as is with the new round would be the 2bil limit removal. Opens up a whole new arena of wealth creation.

Defense?

The only defense i'm forced to carry is enough to stop the untagged players from pot-shotting me. Cause they always sit in heavy DR's and its so hard to recover from them when they smack you around.

My defense is always there, sitting in technology and stock, it is simply a matter of transforming it into some jets and taking back what is mine.

That whole argument is ludicrous. I should get more defense? why? How about this, if you want my bloody land so bad and try to take it.... why dont YOU GET MOAAR DEFENSE .. you know, so you can keep it.

Gotta love new age software with built in scripting and addons and the convoluted mess they create. Just another vector for malware. Couldnt the bloody developers just create the basic functionality for video/audio and leave it at that? Blah.

I dont run any AV, maybe I messed with IE's settings, i restored them to default, hopefully that will fix it. If not, probably some spyware. Speaking of which, I should remove all the addons sitting there right now.

Oh and the best AV's as far as i'm concerned are heuristic engines that'll run on demand for unknown code and a proper integrity based system on known binaries. Course, that type of system doesn't lend itself well to the whole corporate concept of repeat business and "updates" heh.

Pretty much the exact same thing happening to llaar, pop up alert box and all. EE and boxcar now.

I was saying that the client window/tab gets stuck as if a script or something is holding it. I would try to just click into favourites to reopen EE and another box pops up, forget the exact words but it basically said that it was busy, so i'd have to close that window/tab and reopen another one.

I like the changes, and I did try experimenting with it last set or the set before by single midfeeds a day just to see if I could grow through ghost acres.

It does work if you can figure you will come out ahead after retals, requiring you to check land figures, estimate the gains and the losses, vs you, the target as well as any potential retaller if the target doesn't take it himself.

A grab or two a day + exploring still isn't as good as farming though.

The problem? Getting in fluff from upper leadership for hitting a pacted tag. And having no other target available from the remaining unpacted clans that you can actually get a profitable hit from after the retal.

Alliance-wide retals aren't the problem, its the pacting. You could of course lower the pacts, but then you'll just get farmed by laf and randomly FS'ed by imag (like they really need a reason anyway).

Lose/Lose situation. Maybe if pacts were used as just something that says, hey there, we wont go to war with you this set, just don't go overboard on the hits. As opposed to Dont touch us / Sign it or else.

My ramblings of course are just speculation/personal experience on the potential causes for this issue and may not in fact be true, or just a part of it. So take with a grain of salt.

I checked out that pitney bowers, i've heard of them. In my current job, I deal with many companies peoples, mainly cause they buy their safety boots from me, or they're forced to cause they're too lazy to come in during the week and show up on weekends when the manager isn't there.

security will probably be out. In my area, Ontario, canada, you need a license apparantly to be a security guard, which mean smore schooling with overpriced fees. And the idea that i might be uniformed and patrolling a mall filled with people would suck balls.

It's funny, but the most honesty i've given to anyone has been my fellow earthers. And I happen to think earthers would be the best people to listen to for advice (at least, most of them :P)

So, in the next couple of months i'll be looking for a new job. And i'm seeking ideas from you earthers.

here it is, i'm not too picky, but i've got a few conditions:

Priority #1 here. I'm becoming an alchoholic and the stress and anger is fluffing me up. I'm quite the solitary person, customer service was such a bad idea lol.

2. Part time work.

40/44 hours a week are for family men. I don't need or want that kind of money/time. Priority #2.

3. Um.. No qualifications?

I didn't finish college, I have no paperwork to get anything important or flashy. Lets face it, even if you know more about electricity than an electrician does, you're still not gonna get the job.

So, what the hell kinda jobs are out there for someone like me? The only things I can come up with are.

- burger flipper that doesn't do the headphone thing. I did work at kfc for 8 months, was pretty decent job.
- stock boy in some box store after hours.
- dishwasher or something along those lines.

turn based - not a "twitch" game, so i have time to think.
strategy - be it war/economics, whatever.
game - thats just a given, simulators are boring.
