a well written thoughtful post, great.
as to complaining about rules being useless, that may be true but constructive comments about rules slowly win over the smart people and eventually the rules do get changed.
you can see this in the history of the new dictatorship. first it was just one lonely voice in the wilderness and the usual suspects all came in with their "nobody likes you, leave now" routine that they have pulled on eight or nine different people. But slowly the admins started talking among themselves and five months later, boom, a whole new dictatorship emerges. the same is true with the ALCSA, you can see the original version that one of the imaginative admins came up with. then it was filtered through those who hope for a better ruleset and boom a tweaked version of the ALCSA comes out with some of enshula's thoughts, some of dantzig's comments and yes some of mine. of course the same is true of GLCS at first it was just one guy saying, " hey, somethings happening here but eventually the whole site knew the truth and said GWR
commenting on the rules may get some to shout and yell and ask you to use smaller words, but in the end the game is getting better and better to the dismay of the screamers.
