I've played Express for about 45 sets. I've been tech grabbed by "Lincoln", AB'd, suicided and everything else. I've won once and am usually in the top ten except when I go to all out war with the people who did the crazy attacks.

I've learned a lot in all these games and I really enjoy them every weekend. I've made quite a few friends and joined a clan with some really cool experienced players.

Complaining about rules, and about "suiciders" is useless. Thats the game. If you don't build up defensive strength you are a target. If you are lucky and don't hit someoine who is a total nuker, you can do well. Its just a game.

I find that losing or winning, it builds character and gets your mind working. Its the most interesting game I've played, except high stakes craps at the casino :)

a well written thoughtful post, great.

as to complaining about rules being useless, that may be true but constructive comments about rules slowly win over the smart people and eventually the rules do get changed.
you can see this in the history of the new dictatorship. first it was just one lonely voice in the wilderness and the usual suspects all came in with their "nobody likes you, leave now" routine that they have pulled on eight or nine different people. But slowly the admins started talking among themselves and five months later, boom, a whole new dictatorship emerges. the same is true with the ALCSA, you can see the original version that one of the imaginative admins came up with. then it was filtered through those who hope for a better ruleset and boom a tweaked version of the ALCSA comes out with some of enshula's thoughts, some of dantzig's comments and yes some of mine. of course the same is true of GLCS at first it was just one guy saying, " hey, somethings happening here but eventually the whole site knew the truth and said GWR

commenting on the rules may get some to shout and yell and ask you to use smaller words, but in the end the game is getting better and better to the dismay of the screamers.

I think it's rather comical that Gregg keeps rambling about this ALCSA like it is a piece of legislation. As if it had the backing of anyone other than himself.

"commenting on the rules may get some to shout and yell and ask you to use smaller words, but in the end the game is getting better and better to the dismay of the screamers. "

I've gotta say, that was pretty well said :)

But let me make something clear, if I find anyone grabbing my tech I will seriously damage their country. Its against MY rules and offends my sense of rightness

Incidentally, since you didn't read or understnad my well written thoughtful post Lincoln, I said Complaining (Italics, underline) about the rules is useless. Not (ditto) "as to complaining that the rules Are (ditto) useless".

The rules are the rules, the lack of rules is the l;ack of rules, deal with it! And shut up!!!

Yes, the game is improving

yes it is,

we need to discuss spies and their role in a game where the max spy ops is less than 25% of total turns and people in GDI have a huge incentive not to use them.

it is almost as if the game designers think spies are only useful to find out how many forces to send on an LG. spies are meant to be much more than that.

cutting the number of spy ops down to thwart LaEx has diminished the game a little bit.

100 ops per day is twice as high as it has been in this game since its early days in the late 90's and early millenium. It has been 50 or less for at least the past 8 years - the new limit represents an expansion of the ability to use spies, not a stronger limitation.

LaEx has such an uncanny ability to speak authoritatively about subjects of which they know nothing

I made that post before the last reset started. 50 is still plenty, and just as many as its ever been.

Sorry, you'll just have to build labs or buy your tech.
