Easily 40 over. It's likely the top 15 will consist of 14 landtraders.

so now it has come to this, a rank of landtraders vs non landtraders. Players already accepting that they can't compete with the "traders" so they make their own ranking.

I have been jumping up and down saying this is bad and i will say it again landtrading is bad for this server.

if tech stays higher, an early techer can beat "traders"

a wargaining country can also beat traders

currenty there are 3 countries in the game with over 50bil worth of stock. everyone else is quite a ways behind them. Yes they are traders. but shows there's quite a discrepancy in how well even traders are played.

a few resets back when Xin and others jumped they had around 60 bil cash at this point as techers.

the reset hanlong destroyed everyone he also had some big stock at this point without trading.

People like making thier own ranking always. Much like in past resets there's always a post "what are the top 10 all explores" that's all this thread is... not a critique of trading

That is because they are better players than those trading, not because of the strategy. If you get any top tier player trading vs non trading they will always beat themselves were they to landtrade...

That's the easiest scapegoat, but the potential for trading existed well before now and it never materialized until recently. So the real cause is actually political and the way pacts are structured. It makes trading distinctly advantageous.

I know you remember when most pacts were 1:1 and topfeeds oftern provoked conflcit. And those were the standard NAPs of the day. 2:1 was something saved for mutually defensive pacts. The notion of Land:Land didn't exist.

So if people grow tired of it then in theory the political dispora should react accordingly. Or so one would expect.

PERHAPS I AM JUST BEING THICK WHEN IT COMES TO THE DEFINITION OF "LAND TRADING," BUT HOW COULD IT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT GHOST ACRES? WITHOUT GHOST ACRES, LAND EXCHANGE IN ATTACKS IS A ZERO SUM GAME. SOMEONE WILL ALWAYS COME OUT WITH A NET GAIN AND THE OPPONENT WITH A NET LOSS. THAT IS THE DYNAMIC THAT "GHOST ACRES" DESTROY; IT'S LIKE THAT EPISODE OF STAR TREK WHERE THE PEOPLE DIDN'T HAVE TO ACTUALLY EXPERIENCE THE HORROR OF WAR SO THEY WERE ALL LIKE "YEAH BRING IT ON fluffES!"

I remember ghost acres being there for most of the time I played. But there was a gap between 2005ish-2009/2010ish I wasn't playing much.

Was it landtrading with Sky or just trading among multies?

Sky noticed another clan using it and decided to make it more efficient. near as i can tell, actual people were involved with it because it was discussed on the forums, but you never know how many people there are out there who just enjoy talking to themselves.

Exactly. Hence why it's silly to fluff so much about landtrading. If skilled players do it, they can beat equally skilled players doing other styles of play, I more or less agree. But to say that landtrading is destroying the game and completely OP...that's a stretch, imo.

I will say that Dict Farmer is pretty crazy strong. Although $5-10b building costs per grab is nuts :(

Either way you have to admit that it is overpowered, especially if you consider the effort involved in that versus the next most competitive strategy(techer). Yes the cream of those trading still rises to the top, as is shown by my amazing trading abilities ;) , however it is far too easy to do and is FAR stronger than the other comparable strats and takes less time.

One thing that could help balance it would be to institute land bots like has been mentioned before to make other forms of grabbing easier. The other which would help all explores is to give GDI countries more protection or increase the upper level explore rate a bit. That is my theory anyways... those plus a slight reduction in the strength of trading would make multiple strategies closer in strength. Thats just my thoughts though..

Yea, maybe game mechanics could be changed.

Yet I would like 1:1 retal policies and land:land for blatant topfeeds (based on nw only, not on land). But doubt that will happen anytime soon.
