Ratski, you should play a republic casher, get to 20k acres in Express, and cash the set out (cash all your turns after you hit 20k acres). That would really improve your finish.

If you're doing it in tourney, keep it simple and just explore to 15k and cash the set out.

I was trying to retal - at first, your turrets went up slower than my jets, then later on when you started selling your jets, your turrets went up faster than I can buy jets. =P I also needed to raise my land/nw to get better gains on the retal. By the time I was in a position to retal it no longer made sense, I'd just farm the folks at the edge of humanitarian.

Yea was slated for >90m nw, even with the first set of ABs. The second round of missiles was ~30m nw. lol Went from ~60k farms to ~10k farms, and rebuilt to 26k farms and cashed out. I double tapped that last guy cos I was thinking Cumorah and Rocky just multitapped him, and Rocky has more land, less nw and less military than I did (I had accidentally spied him tbf). I figured the target would pick Rocky for the retal as I just jumped outta range. LOL Didn't get far enough out.

Tech prices spike on Thurs/Fri, and collapse on Saturday. (Roughly true no matter which time zone you're in.)

Bots as a whole start destocking 24 hours before the end of the set, though individual bots start at a random time within that window.

PM food price is 32 without military tech.

Tech at $1k and below don't reach the market.

I don't mind skipping this set and doing a challenge next set. I do find these challenges pretty interesting!

I agree that the 3k acre challenge isn't a challenging one because it really is a 3k acre demo techer challenge and not a 3k acre challenge. lol

How about this:
1) Can we go 100% residentials, and see how well we do? It's basically fluffty casher that eats a lot of food. We can call this the 'Murica challenge.
2) Can we see how far we can take a rainbow? Can't have any 1 building type more than 20% of your land. I'll call this the Ratski challenge.

I like number 2 and number 3 conceptually.

Playing it out in my head, is 2 really who runs the best demo techer? I mean demo techer is the highest production per acre strat, and also has the flexibility of playing the market.
(I feel like whether it's 4k or 10k, it's going to be techer.)

Number 3 is an interesting one. If you hold no tech, you can't grab any right? I feel like this one might result in more strategy diversification.

I'd keep strategy hidden as part of the broader strategy to winning as well like a Keynesian beauty contest type thing.

Gotta guess if too many people think that your strategy is the winning strategy, and hence playing it, making it worse to play. xD

I've quite enjoyed both the tyr casher and commie techer challenge, and clearly commie techer wasn't nearly as rough as tyr casher.

0 cs was brought up by Gerd but I wonder if anyone has other ideas too.

I'm ok if some folks want more ICs, I'll stick with 250 ICs as well. (With the commie bonus I expect to have even more spies with my 250 ICs this set.)

I think the key here is self-policing again - ICs not to be used to produce anything other than spies. (Please no commie indy starts lol) We playing a text based game 20 years past its prime so all honour-based here!

I had no problems spying bots with 250 ICs all set (rebuilt immediately, even if i had barren land - just following rules and making it more challenging). I might've failed maybe 1-2 ops all set?

Commie techer not necessarily the worst strat but it IS probably in the bottom 2 with tyranny casher lol

I'm all for the low IC limit like we did for tyranny casher. It's harder yes, but I rarely failed spy ops too. I just want to make sure no one is using ICs to produce non-spies which could happen at 1k ICs, which early game will be a much faster start than straight up techer.

On point 2, yea I'd say part of this would be to determine how much land is ideal here - balancing sticking out like a sore thumb (relative to other players) and playing it safe and cash more/earlier.

On points 1 and 3, the problem with allowing a tech start is that how long of a tech start is valid, given that you can "tech start" for half the set on high prices, and then switch to tyr casher with 4b already stocked. lol I'd prefer to keep it simple, and just cash start and yea inflate the tech prices for some enterprising techer who will win the set.

All the tyr cashers also know this, so maybe they'll want to grab that enterprising techer too. xD

The rule is... be a Tyranny casher (50% ent/res, some indies for spies). No tech start, only cash start. No theo switch allowed for destock either - you stay tyranny casher all set.

There's no real way to verify if you've been a tyranny casher all set, but really, do you wanna cheat in a browser-based text game that's 20 years past its prime?!

Probably true given how small tourney is now (2a with 18 players) - this was written 10+ years ago for tourney (2a with 229 players), and since rejoining I've only ever tried this in Express, where it works like a charm. Given this board, it's about Express.
